Horses are an important motif in Chinese mythology. There are many myths about the horse or horses, or horse-like beings, including the pony. Chinese mythology refers to those myths found in the historical geographic area of China.^[1] In some cases the focus is on a horse or horses as the protagonist of the action, in other cases they appear in a supporting role, sometimes as the locomotive power propelling a chariot and its occupant(s). 

Lim Ah Cheng 
Lim Ah Cheng , known as a ‘horse painter’,  as he had been painted horses since 90's & that became his trademark in the art industry. 
Cheng, admired horses fluidity & motion, hence he began to paint horses during his younger days. His mentor advice him to continue painting in horses as it is a unique subject and something that can be his trademark.
Cheng had perfectly highlighted both the beauty of the horses and the strong movement of their bodies in semi-abstract way using oils and acrylics on canvas. ”
